SR-71A
64-17960 performed in front of a vast, appreciative audience in May 1986
at the annual Mildenhall Air Fete. During its final pass, the aircraft
suffered a momentary double flame out, resulting in unburnt fuel entering
the rear of the engine, which then combusted when they were relit. The
result was a huge fireball which held in the Suffolk sky for a few seconds.
